SHRM Jobs Review: Are There Better Places to Post HR Jobs?
Let’s face it: There aren’t many reliable job boards when it comes to recruiting HR professionals. In a world of insufficient resources, slow-loading pages, and broken features, where do you go? The SHRM Jobs and Career Center is a promising place to start.
With over 159,000 job seekers and more than 135,600 resumes, SHRM’s job board remains at the top.
But, is it really worth it? Are there other, better places to post HR jobs?
In this detailed SHRM Jobs board review, we’ll discuss the key features of the platform, how much they cost, and a few promising alternatives that deserve a shot by recruiters.
Let’s get started.
What is SHRM?
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a global association for HR professionals.
Based in Alexandria, Virginia, the SHRM’s primary function is to develop the field of HR management by providing networking and educational resources to its network.
The society also offers the SHRM certification – a globally-recognized credential in human resources. SHRM-CPs have a competitive edge in the market and proof of their competency and knowledge in the field.
In addition to all of the above, the Society for Human Resource Management also has a one-of-a-kind platform to recruit HR professionals, which brings us to:
A Detailed Review of SHRM Jobs Board
The SHRM Jobs and Career Center is a special online website that’s exclusive to HR job seekers and recruiters hiring for relevant roles (both full and part-time).
Whether you’re looking for low and mid-level roles (such as HR generalists, HR business partner, employee relations specialist) or headhunting (for positions like senior human resources manager, CPO, etc.), the platform offers ample features to help you conveniently discover and reach out to competent profiles.
On the other hand, candidates can use the platform to conduct their job search (for free).
They can create their profiles, upload resumes, and get noticed by recruiters for job opportunities.
As of now, there is no mobile app for SHRM’s job board. You can only access it with the browser of your computer.
Key Features and Services for Recruiters [To Help Find Qualified Candidates]
With the basic details out of the way, let’s dive into the specific features of this site:
1. 30-Day Job Postings
Let’s start off with the basics.
On SHRM’s platform, you can create a new job posting that will remain on the website for a total of 30 days.
As we’ll discuss shortly, this key feature is included in all of the basic packages.
You can also purchase this as a stand-alone feature/service.
2. Emails to Potential Candidates
At times, online job posts aren’t enough.
With so many open positions, how can you cut through the noise and get noticed by potential candidates?
The answer: Through email blasts.
Thanks to SHRM, you can also reach your ideal profiles through emails. By penetrating the inbox, your chances of success will increase significantly.
3. Resume Bank
SHRM jobs has a huge database of HR resumes that you can access for 30 days at a time.
Known as the “resume bank,” the database lets you find suitable candidates for open positions.
Furthermore, you can refine your search with the state/province, country, and last updated filters to find the ideal HR profile.
Like the 30-day job posting feature, the resume bank also exists as a stand-alone service and requires a subscription.
4. TalentBoost Upgrade (Job Postings on Local Boards)
Finally, you can also use SHRM’s platform to have your postings listed on other job boards – a feature known as the “TalentBoost Upgrade.”
The SHRM has a vast network of over 1,000 national, local, and even niche boards where you can easily connect with hundreds of potential job candidates.
However, you can’t access this feature without opting for one of the packages (more on that later).
SHRM’s platform, like every other board, is free for job seekers.
However, recruiters have to pay to use all of the premium services and features.
As of now, the platform offers three packages:
Let’s have a look at the details:
1. Job Flash™ Package
The Job Flash™ is the most basic package – it costs $499 for SHRM members (and $599 for non-members).
Under this package, you can place your job postings for a total of 30 days and reach out to potential candidates via email.
2. Job Flash™ Package Plus Upgrades
The Job Flash™ Package Plus Upgrades option includes everything that the basic package offers, but provides higher visibility.
If you opt for this package, your postings will show up higher in the search results and will even be highlighted to attract the most candidates.
As of now, the package will cost you $524 if you’re a member (or $699 if you’re not).
3. Premium Job Flash™ Package Plus Network of 1,000+ Sites
The third and final package offers everything that the above 2 packages include (30-day postings, emails, and boosted visibility), and on top of that, includes the TalentBoost Upgrade feature that shares your openings with a network of over 1,000 job boards.
If you’re a member, you should opt for this package instead of the 2nd one since it costs less.
In case the above packages are overkill for your hiring needs, you can also simply pay for the 30-day job posting service (which costs $299 for members). You may also purchase 3 “packs” of 30-day postings (for bulk needs), that will set you back about $870 if you’re a member.
Additionally, you can pay to gain access to just the resume bank. With this service, you can reach out to 100 HR professionals for only $495 (if you’re a member).
A Few Promising Alternatives to SHRM Jobs
For most recruiters, the SHRM Jobs and Career center is sufficient to discover and recruit quality HR profiles.
However, if the packages don’t fall within your budget (or you just want to explore more options before you make a decision), you could instead consider opting for the following platforms:
1. HR Jobs
HR Jobs is one of the few job boards that come close to SHRM’s platform.
The website also has similar packages and features, including 30-day job posts, email packages, banner ads, access to resumes, and more.
All in all, HR Jobs is a decent and more affordable alternative to SHRM’s platform.
iHireHR is a lightweight alternative to SHRM to get access to over 646,000 HR professionals seeking new job opportunities.
While the website doesn’t offer as many features as SHRM, it’s great for those with fewer requirements.
Glassdoor – while not exclusively an HR job board – is another great platform to post jobs and reach candidates.
The best part: You can start a trial today and post up to 5 jobs for free.
Is the SHRM Jobs Platform the Best Option for You?
Considering everything discussed above, you should opt for SHRM to find HR professionals if:
- You’re a member of the Society for Human Resource Management
- You need to hire in bulk and reach out to candidates through multiple channels
If you don’t have heavy requirements, you’re better off opting for one of the alternatives listed above.
